So much can happen a year. I’ve been recently hired by the group MIDLAND. For whom I’ve gotten to perform with on the TONIGHT SHOW w/ Jimmy Fallon, The TODAY SHOW, LATE NIGHT w/ Seth Meyers and finally ELLEN. All have beyond my scope of imagination. I’ve also gotten to perform on stage, here in Nashville with some Americana legends including Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars), Ketch Secor (Old Crow Medicine Show), Shannon McAnnally, and Jim Lauderdale among others…Also need to mention working on some great recordings with w/ Ron Pope, Spencer Burton, Michaela Anne, plus others. Lastly, I got to meet a true steel guitar living legend Mr. LLoyd Green. It’s been a great year.

Well, its been a minute since I've posted here.  A lot has transpired over my first full year here in Nashville.  All of it has been such a rush.  The top of the list may have to be a true "bucket" list item.  Playing the The Grand Ole Opry is one of those things that feels historical to many in the careers of country music, and I too am susceptible of the honor of playing that stage.  Earlier this week, I was asked to back up a prolific songwriter and entertainer by the name of Elizabeth Cook.  What a treat!!!  I thank my lucky stars everyday for opportunities such as these.  Onward!

Earlier this year I recorded on a song for Osei Essed that has been on ongoing project he and Tim Fite have been working on for a little while.  The project consists of reinterpreting the songs of Paul Robeson.   Today this reinterpretation was released to the world.  Enjoy.

I recently had a bit part in the soundtrack of a great documentary named Tower.  The original music was written by my longtime friend Osei Essed.  As told in the New York Times review - "The haunting documentary “Tower” revisits a 1966 mass shooting at the University of Texas at Austin that shocked the country. It may be difficult to comprehend the reaction to the horror of Charles Whitman, a 25-year-old student who shot more than a dozen dead, wounding more than twice as many. A cover story in Life magazine suggested just how alien the carnage seemed at the time, noting that during the rampage Whitman’s actions were “so outrageous, so hard to grasp, that people could not believe it.” Many more mass shootings later, it’s now tragically easy to believe."

It is currently being broadcast on Independent Lens on PBS.   Please check it out.

Last year I was lucky enough to record with Daniel Rossen and Christopher Bear of Grizzly Bear fame, on the recently released Grateful Dead compilation put together called called "Day of the Dead".  The song is is a great rendition of "High Time".  The release benefiting the Red Hot Organization, an international charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS.
